ESCOME GOALS & OBJECTIVES

1) To fulfill the strategic mission of enhancing healthcare worldwide by establishing a high caliber spine training experience for selected foreign surgeons with a mentoring process that will empower expert spine care in centers (university based) that are fully independent and self-sustaining in three years.

2) To channel the unique and invaluable resource of the emerging generation of highly experienced near-retirement or retired North American spine specialists for teaching and mentoring, and in so doing enhance their own late career experiences.

3) To build new and lasting international professional relationships between spine physicians in China and the U.S.A., and enhance international academic and professional spine society collaboration.

4) To enable joint research between Emory University and premiere local universities in China and later other developing countries in areas of common interest such as international medical education and international development.

5) To empower developing countries that have appropriate infrastructure to deliver high quality spine care, even with limited resources, to a large segment of the productive population that is currently un-served.
